Ernest T. Hollis, 89, of Putnam Pike died Saturday at the Village at Waterman Lake. He was the husband of the late Gertrude K. (Dwyer) Hollis.
Born in Cambridge, MA, a son of the late Ernest W. and Anna (Walsh) Hollis, he lived in Smithfield for three years, previously living in Harwich and Reading, MA.
Mr. Hollis was a WWII Army Veteran and a graduate of Northeastern University. He was a chemist for the Dewey and Almy Division of W. R. Grace until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Thomas A. Hollis and his wife, Deborah of North Providence, Kathleen Furtado of Newton, MA and Jane Berrigan and her husband James of York, ME and seven grandchildren. Brother of the late Alice Barry,Francis and Stanley Hollis.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI 02828. Visitation Tuesday 9-10am. Burial private.
