Sally J. Ratila of Fitchburg, MA. September 9, 2008, at age 45.
Sally passed away peacefully in the presence of her husband, Parveen Gill, and her lifelong friend, Cheryl Tate, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Sally was a 1980 graduate of Fitchburg High School. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, loved music, travel, Native American culture, horses and being outdoors. She always had a warm smile and caring word to give, no matter what was going on in her life. Sally had a variety of different employment over the years and most recently ran her own successful pet sitting business. She was a talented artist and animal photographer and had an amazing ability to capture the personalities of her animal subjects in her photos. She had begun looking into returning to art school before her illness. Her paintings, photos and artwork were shown at various local museums, libraries and book stores over the years. Sally lived her life through her giving heart, love of animals and deep spirituality and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Sally is survived by her husband, Parveen Gill, parents John and Natalie Ratila, brother Jonathan Ratila, sister Ann Ratila, all of Fitchburg, her cousin Nina Talix of NH, her lifelong friend Cheryl Tate of NH and her beloved cat Elsinora.
