Mary C. (Correia) Faria, 88, of Fairhaven, died Wednesday April 2, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Alfred L. Faria, and daughter of the late Manuel and Zulmira Correia.
A lifelong resident of Fairhaven, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.
Mrs. Faria was formerly employed as a fish packer at Deep Sea Fillet, Tichon Fish and New Bedford Fillet until her retirement. She later was a waitress at Bob's Restaurant in Fairhaven for 10 years.
She was a member of the Holy Ghost Club of Fairhaven.
Survivors include a daughter Shirley A. Marinelli, and her husband John of St. Thomas, USVI; 2 sons, Alfred L. Faria, Jr., and his wife Catherine, of Murrieta, CA, and Robert P. Faria, and his wife Susan, of Fairhaven; her dear friend and companion, Pete; 2 brothers, William Correia of Rhode Island, and Manuel Correia, Jr., of Vermont; a sister, Dorothy Tenczar of San Jose, CA; 4 grandchildren, Skylar Faria, Shannon Lisa Faria, David Veronneau and Katie Ann Faria; 7 great-grandchildren, Skylar Faria, Jr., Hannah Faria, Madison Faria, Haley Swearingen, Ashley Persson, Holley Persson and Steven Persson, Jr.; her godchildren, Brenda Correia and Lorraine Costa; and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Frank Correia.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday April 7, 2003 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven, at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday April 6, 2003 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
