Myrtle Herndon Coutu, 78, of Summerville, wife of Girard Edward Coutu, died Monday morning, September 8, 2008 at Summerville Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 2 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Lung Association, 1941 Savage Road, Suite 200-A, Charleston, SC 29407.
Mrs. Coutu was born July 27, 1930 in Georgetown, daughter of the late William and Mary Benton Herndon. She attended schools in Mt.Pleasant. She was a member of Charleston Low Country Antique Car Club and the Ladies Fleet Association Branch 50. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, video movies and selected game shows. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

2 sons and 3 daughters: William “Richard” Bellamy (Judy A.) of Bradenton, Florida, Debra Lynn Bailey of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Diane Denise Davis (Barry E.) of North Charleston, Edward Douglas Coutu (Debra A.) of Summerville and Vicki Marie Coutu of Summerville.
9 grandchildren: William Richard Bellamy, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri, Leigh Ann Bellamy of Sarasota, Florida, Charles L. Bailey of Ladson, Tina A. Maple of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Robert A. Davis of Charleston, Carl E. Davis of North Charleston, Jeremie E. Coutu of Ladson, Alexander T. Coutu of Summerville and Brandon L. Boykin of Summerville.
