Obituary

Mr. Charles L. Green, born March 30, 1934 to the late William S. and Rose Green of Nashville, TN departed this life Saturday, September 6, 2008 at his home.

Charles was born in Nashville, TN, where he joined the Pilgrim Emanuel Baptist Church, embarking on a God-fearing life. In the face of adversity, he was able to overcome insurmountable barriers to graduate from Tennessee State University with his bachelor?s degree as well as Boston University with his Masters Degree.

He was united in holy wedlock to Mrs. Louise Butler Green in 1967. Charles was a quiet mild-mannered man who was a loving, and considerate person that always reached out to help others. He was also a fun loving man who was admired by all those who knew him.

For nearly 30 years, he was employed by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). While there he was an architectural engineer for the state of Massachusetts, Chief Property Officer of Massachusetts, Director of College Housing and held several other influential positions.

Charles was also a dedicated member and director of several community organizations.

He leaves to mourn his passing: His wife of 41 years, Louise Butler Green; three sons, Carlos S. Green of Maryland, Darius S. Green of Boston, Xoland E, Green of Boston; one daughter, Novella E. Green of Maryland; one sister, Mattie Jones of Tennessee; one daughter-in-law, Katherine V. Green of Maryland; one daughter-in-law to be, Kathleen A. Dawson; two grandchildren, Whitney Thomson and Chaz M. Green of Maryland; a brother and sister-in-law J.T. and Louise Butler of Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and additional family members.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) JAMAICA PLAIN on Saturday September 13 at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with his family from 9:00 - 9:30 am prior to the funeral service. Internment, Mount Hope Cemetery, Boston.
