East Bridgewater – Kenneth L. MacMillan Sr. 79 formerly of Braintree and Abington died Saturday Sept. 6th in the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of failing health. He was the loving husband for over 50 years to the late Irene (Boylan) MacMillan.
Born in Boston he was the son of the late Gordon and Lillian (Simpson) MacMillan. He grew up in the Dorchester area of Boston and attended Boston English High.
Ken worked for many years as a warehouse manager for Baylies & Co. of Somerville. After his retirement he maintained a small business from his Abington home where he enjoyed buying and selling antiques as well as refinishing & restoration of furniture.
He was an avid sports fan, especially golf.
He is survived by his children Kenneth MacMillan, Jr. of Ashburnham, Carole Cole of Halifax, Robert MacMillan of East Bridgewater, and Linda Weafer of East Bridgewater, his brothers Robert MacMillan of Holbrook, Donald MacMillan of Osterville, and Allan MacMillan of Hull, his sisters Jean Donnelly of Randolph, Sandra Dore of Whitman, and Janice Bibber of Berkley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gordon MacMillan Jr. and Joan Callahan.
His services will be held Thursday Sept. 11th at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday Sept. 10th from 5-8 PM.
