Edna Eulala Tyson Dillard, 78, of Enigma died Friday, September 5, 2008, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2008 in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemeterry. Nephews, grandsons, and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 8, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Dillard was born on October 27, 1929 in Worth County and was the daughter of John D. Tyson and Lettie Lenore Milam Tyson, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Wilington Dillard; and three brothers, Edward A. Tyson, Herman D. Tyson and J. Hubert Tyson. She was a retired convenience store manager and a member of Isabella Baptist Church. She authored "The History of Brookfield" in the book "The History of Tift County" in 1948.
Ms. Dillard is survived by one son, John Stephen "Steve" Dillard of Enigma; one daughter, Jean Elena "Lana" Dillard Polk of Columbus; two sisters, Amy Patton of Albany and Lucy Jean Schmel of Laureldale, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
