John F. Hogan, 63, of Bluestone Drive, Nashua, died Tuesday April 1, 2003 surrounded by his family at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Brockton, MA, son of the late Victor S. and Alice (Murphy) Hogan. John was the husband of Sarah (Hicks) Hogan of Nashua. John and his wife have lived in Nashua for the last 10 years and in New Hampshire since 1980. His family resided in Londonderry, NH. Prior to moving to NH, John and his family lived in Worcester, MA. Mr. Hogan graduated from Brockton High School in the class of 1958 and subsequently attended Clark University and Boston College. During the Vietnam era, he served in the US Army. John was a jeweler for many years, employed by Kartens in Manchester, NH, and Sharfmans in Worcester MA. While a resident of Brockton, John was the Merchandising Manager for Gurney’s on Main Street. His other interest and endeavors included membership in the Manchester Rotary; Advertising Club of Worcester; Chamber of Commerce in both Worcester and Manchester; Gemological Institute of America; Board of Directors of the MA/RI Retail Jewelers Assoc; Downtown Worcester Retail Development Authority; and a contributing member of the United Way of both Worcester and Manchester. He was the youngest member of the N.E. Guild of the American Gem Society when he joined. Mr. Hogan received numerous awards from Kartens for Sales and Management achievements. John’s passions were his family, art, dancing, music, golf and sailing. >p> He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sarah (Hicks) Hogan; daughter Kym, with husband Rick and daughters Michaela and Bryanne of Londonderry, NH; a son Sean, with his wife Suzanne, son Reilly and daughters Mary Rose and Anna of Voorheesville, NY; 2 brothers, William Hogan and his wife Suzanne of So. Hadley, MA and Richard Hogan of Kensington CT; 3 sisters Alice Hogan and Rosemarie Callahan with husband Joseph both of West Yarmouth, MA and Maureen Iannoni and husband Joseph of Foxboro, MA. John was a brother of the late Victor E. Hogan and the uncle of the late Joseph P. Callahan and Christopher P. Hicks, 14 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews also survived Mr. Hogan.
