Hazel J. (Dwinell) Sawicki Remi, 97, formerly of Rochdale died Sunday, Aug. 31 in the Lutheran Healthcare Center after a long illness.
Her husband Albert A. Remi died in 1979. She leaves four sons William S. Sawicki and his wife Judith of Cherry Valley, Stanley W. Sawicki and his wife Joan of Neptune City, New Jersey, Albert A. Remi of Leicester and Ralph A. Remi and his wife Karen of Worcester, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son Russell J. Sawicki, three brothers Warren B., Gordon D. & Ralph E. Dwinell who was killed in action during WW II and a sister Eva V. Hines.
Mrs. Remi was born in Leicester, daughter of Burt W. and Virginia L. (Rivers) Dwinell. She graduated from Leicester High School. She worked at Carlton Woolen Mill in Rochdale for 10 years retiring in 1972.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 5 at 1:00 PM in MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Healthcare Center, 26 Harvard Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or to a charity of one's choice.
