Marlon C. Burns, 46, of Worcester died Sunday August 31, 2008 unexpectedly at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Born in New Rochelle, New York, the son of Joel E. Burns of Dartmouth and the late Catherine (Bryant) Burns, he lived in Dartmouth and Fall River before moving to Worcester.
Mr. Burns was employed by Spencer Tech in Worcester.
He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School where he was a member of both the football and basketball teams. He held the school record for most points scored in basketball from 1981 to 2003. He went on to play basketball for Providence College where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management.
Survivors include his father; his stepmother, Donna Burns of Dartmouth; his loving companion, Renee Acri of Worcester; five daughters, Shannon Burns, Amber Burns, and Kaitlyn Burns, all of Fall River, Marnay Summer Acri-Burns and Catherine Rose Acri-Burns, both of Worcester; two brothers, Edward A. Mosley of New Bedford and Bobby Norward of Pennsylvania; his maternal grandmother, Savannah May Simmons of Collins, GA; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 AM in the Union Baptist Church, 109 Court St., New Bedford. Visitation at Union Baptist Church Friday morning from 9-11 AM. Burial private.
