Cynthia "Cindy" T. Campbell, 53 of Fitzgerald died Tuesday, September 2, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 4 P.M. Thursday, September 4 at the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald with Rev. Jim Faircloth and Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers are Larry E. Davis, Brian Gunter, Stevie Harden, William Henry, Ed Hill and David Hobby. Honorary pallbearers are the Ben Hill Primary School staff and Cindy Sitters. Visitation will be held from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Born September 2, 1955 in Rochester, Indiana to the late Wilford Harrison Tribby and the late Kathleen Livingston Tribby, she graduated from Rochester High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Franklin College outside Indianapolis. She received a Master’s degree from Indiana University and Educational Specialist’s degree from Valdosta State University. A teacher for 27 years, she loved her profession and had a positive impact on many young people in the Fitzgerald area. Mrs. Campbell was past president of the Fitzgerald Junior Women’s Club, member of the Georgia Association of Educators. The National Association of Educators, Red Hatters and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Graceseekers Sunday School class. Cindy was known for her “power shopping” excursions. She enjoyed traveling, watching the Purple Hurricanes on Friday nights, fellowshipping with her friends and was a tremendous blessing to her family.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Campbell of Fitzgerald; sons & daughter-in-law James Tyler Campbell and fiancée Ashley Lee of Naples, FL and Ross & Kristin D. Campbell of Fitzgerald; father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.C. & Mildred M. Campbell of Fitzgerald; brother-in-law, Roy Campbell of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty C. & Greg Mercier of Fitzgerald. One uncle and aunt in FL and Indiana respectively and several cousins. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Maggie Campbell.
