PAXTON__Leo E. Missunas, 83, of Paxton died Sunday August 31, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Helen (Kitonis) Missunas, nieces, Karen Sutkus and her husband Ronald and daughter Elyse, Therese Caldwell and her husband Paul and sons, Bryan and Brandon, all of Paxton; Joan Kitonis and daughter Leah of Vermont and several other nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, the son of Charles and Gertrude (Degutis) Missunas.
Mr. Missunas worked for the Division of Motor Vehicles - Division of Motorboats later named the Environmental Police Division. He also worked for Wyman Gordon Co. He was a World War II, U.S. Navy Veteran serving on submarines. He graduated from Worcester Boys’ Trade High School. Leo was a longtime member, past - president and steward of the Lithuanian Naturalization Club. He was a member of St. Casimir Church, Worcester and served as a Eucharistic Minister and Acolyte. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Leo touched many lives and was loved by many, he will be remembered as a kind, caring man. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Vincent Hospital for their kind and supportive care afforded their family throughout Leo’s illness.
The funeral will be held on Thursday September 4 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday September 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
