BILLERICA - Leah J. (Ciccolo) Murphy, age 86, a resident of Billerica Crossings, died Sunday, August 31, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Murphy who died in 1994.
She was born in Boston, May 14, 1922, a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (DeLeo) Ciccolo, and was raised in Dorchester. She lived in Medford, Burlington and Winchester, before moving to Pompano Beach in Florida. She returned to Saunders Circle Senior Housing in Tewksbury in 1997.
As an area resident, she was employed as a secretary at New England Merchants Bank , and upon moving to Florida, was employed as secretary to the Editor at the Sun Sentinal newspaper in Ft. Lauderdale.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Winchester, Woburn, and Deerfield Beach, Florida.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Joseph F. DeLucia of Tewksbury; a son and daughther-in-law, Robert C. Murphy and his wife Maryann of East Kingston, NH; six grandchildren, Lori (DeLucia) and her husband Roland Saucier of Pepperell, MA, Tracy (DeLucia) and her husband Christopher Politis of Waltham, MA, Joseph R. DeLucia of Tewksbury, Stephen, Erin, and Patrick Murphy all of East Kingston, NH; seven great grandchildren, Stephen Seplow, Heather, Rhiannon, and Joseph DeLucia, Ryan, Alex, and Amanda Politis; and a sister, Angela Famolare of Winthrop, MA.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, Sept. 5, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in the National cemetery at Cape Cod.
