Albert R. Descoteaux, age 80, died Saturday, Aug. 30th, 2008 in Nashua after long illness. He was the husband of Leonilda "Hilda" (Mondazzi) Descoteaux.
Born in Lowell on January 14th, 1928, the son of the late William and Aldea (Soucy) Descoteaux, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Al was a longtime resident of Nashua, NH and also resided in Las Vegas, NV during his retirement. He was formerly of Pelham, NH and Lowell.
Al was the owner and proprietor of Flowers by Albert on Merrimack Street in Lowell which he founded in 1956 and is now in it's third generation.
While living in Lowell, he was a member of the Lafayette Club, CCA Club, Club Passe-Temps and the Lowell Lodge of Elks. Al enjoyed horse racing at Rockingham Park.
Besides his wife Hilda, he is survived by his children, David Descoteaux and his wife Annette of Pelham; Gail Descoteaux and her companion, George Medeiros of Billerica, Steven Descoteaux of Nashua, Diane Peters of San Diego, CA, and Nancy DiRocco and her husband Peter of Belle Mead, NJ; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Therese Descoteaux of Geneva, IL; eight grandchildren, Mike Zabierek of Las Vegas, Demetra Gore and her husband Billy of Atlanta, GA, Peter Petropoulakos of Las Vegas, Jeffrey Descoteaux and his fiancee, Sarah of Pelham, NH, Renee Descoteaux of Nashua, Stephanie, Jessica and Kevin DiRocco all of Belle Mead, NJ; two sisters-in-law Rose Lessard and her husband Frank of Pelham and Rita Brown of Lowell; also many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd from 4 to 8pm. A prayer service will be held on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the funeral home followed by Interment at Gibson Cemetery in Pelham.
