Michael Saad of San Francisco; David Saad of Holly Spring, NC; Theresa, Carolyn and William Saad all of Nantucket. Sister of Joseph Hajjar of Quincy, George “Ned” Hajjar of Miami, Abraham “Jack” Hajjar of Scotia, NY; Isabelle (Hajjar) Habeeb of Braintree and Josephine “Josie” (Hajjar) Hajjar of Quincy. Mother-in-law of Christine Saad-Keefe of Nantucket and Florida.
Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 9 am. The Service of the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church 343 No. Main St. Brockton at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday 5-9 pm with Service of Incense at 6:30 pm.
Obituary
Mrs. Saad died Saturday at the Quincy Medical Center after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Atty. Thomas R. Saad and had lived in Brockton for the past 63 years.She was born in Quincy daughter of the late Sidney and Annie (Wakim) Hajjar and was a graduate of Quincy High School Class of 1936. She moved to Brockton shortly after her marriage in 1939 and had been a resident of Emmanuel House for the past several years.
In the late 1930’s she worked in the garment industry in Boston and became a union activist fighting for the rights of the workers.She had worked for many years at Kempton and Kennedy clothing stores in downtown Brockton before the advent of suburban shopping malls. In the 1960’s she worked at her brother’s restaurant Joe’s Lunch at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy.She was active in the Lebanon-American Women’s Auxiliary Club in Brockton and served as president in 1947.She was a communicant of St. Theresa Maronite Catholic in Brockton.
Mrs. Saad cherished her family and is survived by the above survivors. One son, two daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren 5 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters and many nieces and nephewsMother of the late Atty. Ronald J. Saad.
