Obituary

Edna M. (Devlin) Martin, 82, of Dartmouth, formerly of New Bedford, died Friday August 29, 2008 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dale W. Martin.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Robert F. and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Devlin, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.

Mrs. Martin was formerly employed as a home health aide for St. Luke's Hospital until her retirement in 1989.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Thomas Tuttle Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Dartmouth Seniors, and the Mount Carmel Seniors.

Survivors four children, Linda Hopps, Catherine Reed, and Denise Johansen all of Dartmouth, and Stephen Landry of Pennsylvania; a brother, Joseph H. Devlin of New Bedford; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Catherine Rego Darmofal, Lillian Lafar, Bernice Mielke, Robert, James, Edward, and Steven Devlin.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial in the Mass. National Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
