Gerard “Jerry” Riccio, of Melrose, died Thursday at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was 66.
Raised in Medford, Jerry was the son of the late Ottone and Angelina (Marotta) Riccio. A Medford resident for many years before settling in Melrose in 1980, Jerry enjoyed a long career in the engineering department at Polaroid. With his wife and sons, he operated the popular “MVP” Most Valuable Pizza, in Wakefield for the past 13 years. A sports enthusiast, Jerry was most of all dedicated to his family. He would be the first one at the playing field for his sons’ games and always enjoyed the company of family and friends.
He was the beloved husband of Paraskevi “Viv” (Kavoulaki) Riccio. He was a loving father to Anthony Riccio and John Liapis, both of Melrose. He was a devoted brother to Francis H. Riccio and his wife Marilyn of Georgetown. He was a dear uncle to Jennifer A. Riccio.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family, Tuesday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
