Ecla W. (Getchell) Waugh, 83 years of East Bridgewater died Tuesday August 26, 2008 at Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center in Stoughton. Wife of the late Lewis A. Waugh, Sr. Ecla was born, raised and educated in Winterport, Maine, daughter of the late Harold and Edna (Pooler) Getchell. She had been a resident of E. Bridgewater for over 30 years and retired in 1995 from the New England Art Company in Abington. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and traveling with her husband, but what she enjoyed the most was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Lewis Waugh, Jr., Juanita Edwards, Norma Waugh, Gaynol Waugh, Sr., Pernell Waugh, Sr. and LuAnn Botehlo, a sister Edna Kazules, 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Dwight D. Waugh, Sr. and sister of the late Beatrice Holmes, Harold Getchell, Jr., Owen, Vernie, Roland, Melvin and Floyd Getchell.
A Memorial gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 5-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ecla’s name to the Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center, Activities Dept., 1044 Park St.,Stoughton, MA 02072.
