Rita M. Corrigan, of Tewksbury, formerly of Woburn, died Saturday at her home in Tewksbury.Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late John and the late Catherine (Vericella) Peterson.
While in Woburn where she lived most of her life, she attended St. Charles School. Rita moved to Tewksbury in 1976 with her husband Richard. She retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. In Lexington after many years service. She enjoyed the seacoast and spent time in Rockport, Newburyport, Salisbury and Hampton Beach. She also enjoyed knitting and poetry. She loved animals and was a member of the Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Along with her husband Richard, she is survived by two loving sons John ''Brian'' Drehle and his wife Donna of Dracut, and Richard J. Corrigan Jr. of Tewksbury. Two loving granddaughters Amanda and Ashley Drehle. Also survived by two brothers, John Peterson and his wife Mary of Woburn and Joseph Peterson and his wife Marilyn, of Burlington.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday at 9AM. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 thru 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
