Adelaide (Melchiono) Giordano, of Revere, formerly of Brighton and the North End, died Saturday at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. She was 86.
Mrs. Giordano was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Carmine and the late Adelaide (Barrassa) Melchionno.
For more than 60 years she was a hairdresser at Peggy’s Beauty Shop in the North End of Boston. Even after her retirement 15 years ago she continued to take clients in her home up until her illness a few years ago.
She was the wife of the late Amleto “Tom” Giordano. She is survived by her sister Margaret Melchiono of Revere, nephew, Carmine Melchiono of Medford, and many other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother Carmen Melchiono and sisters Filomena Gaglione, Josephine Milano and Laura Verrico.
Relatives and friends may visit Tuesday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, Wednesday at 9AM.Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
