NEW BEDFORD — William Sanford Beijar, age 64, of New Bedford, passed away August 26, 2008. He was the beloved husband of Maria S. Beijar, devoted son of Walter S. Beijar, Videssa Bellenoit, and his stepfather Roland Bellenoit. He was the brother of Michelle Lussier, Melanie Bellenoit, and Roland Belleneit, Jr. He is survived by his children, Christopher Beijar, Jonathan Beijar, Jessica Beijar, his step-children Wendy Chace, Vanessa Baptista, and Steven Baptista. He also leaves his grandchildren Tyson, Cassidy, Abigail, a new-born on the way, and nieces and nephews. He had many life-long friends including Manny, Johnny, Carl, Bill, Willie, Jeff, Gary, Petty, Minnie, Peggy, Sue, and Doreen.
He was born in New Bedford where he spent most of his life and as a member of the US Armed Forces he served two years in Germany. Throughout his life he was employed as a manager at local businesses and later worked as a Director of Distribution for many years. Mr. Beijar enjoyed playing pool as a member of the Sao Paulo pool team and won several trophies. He was also an avid fan of the New England Patriots and attended their games faithfully no matter what the weather. Other favorite past-times included camping, cooking, and tanning by the ocean waters of his neighborhood beaches.
Bill will be greatly missed by many and remembered most for his kindness, ambition, and loyalty. He had a calm and quiet demeanor, a quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor that he took with him wherever he went. His loving wife will forever cherish their unforgettable "Moment in Time."
Visitation with a prayer service will take place on Thursday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St. at the corner of Elm St. NB. Burial is private.
