Obituary

AUBURN____Aldona (Varaska) Waska, 81, formerly of 21 Lesley Avenue, and formerly of Worcester, died Friday August 22, 2008 in her home in Appleton, Maine. Her husband, Stanley P. Waska died in 1984.

She leaves two sons, James R. Waska and his wife Judith B. of Ft. Pierce, FL, and David P. Waska and his wife Deborah J. of Appleton; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a grandchild, a brother and a sister. She was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of Benjamin and Eva (Ropeika) Varaska and later lived in Auburn for many years. She has resided in Appleton for a year and a half.

Mrs. Waska was a payroll clerk for more than 25 years for G.F. Wright Steel Co., Worcester. After she retired she continued working as a consultant to the company. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, Worcester.

Aldona was a member of St. Casimir Church, Worcester and sang in the church choir. She was a member and past secretary of Council 26 Knights of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Charitable Society and was a member of the Lithuanian War Veterans Organization and was a past president of its women’s auxiliary.

The funeral will be held on Thursday August 28 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street, Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday August 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Members of the Knights of Lithuania will meet at 5:30 p.m. during calling hours to conduct their ritual. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waldo County Home Health & Hospice, 119 Northport Ave, Belfast, ME, 04915.
