TEWKSBURY - James Denis Croucher Jr., age 55, died Thursday morning, August 21, at the Tewksbury home of his sister, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in Cambridge, August 29, 1952, a son of the late Margaret (MacQuatters) and James D. Croucher Sr. He was raised in Tewksbury and graduated with the Class of 1971 from Tewksbury Memorial High School. He enlisted into the Marine Corps following his high school graduation and served for three years.
He lived in the Bedford and Lexington area, but returned to Tewksbury due to failing health.
He worked in security at Boston's Intercontinental Hotel prior to his illness.
Jimmy wanted his obituary to include a "thank you to all of my old friends, and new friends, for their caring during my illness."
He is survived by his wife Edna (Burke) Croucher of Somerville; a daughter, Melissa Smith of Cambridge; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Herbert Hendrix of Lowell, Ann Marie and Michael Clasby of AZ; and Trisha and Michael Nicoloro of Tewksbury; two nieces, Nicole Bulman and her husband Jason of Haverhill, Alexandra Nicoloro of Tewksbury; a grand niece Alivia Bulman; an aunt, Mary McCullough of L.I., NY; an uncle, Leo Croucher of Peabody; and several cousins including Leo Croucher of MN.
His Funeral Service was held Tuesday, August 26, with burial in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, will be appreciated.
