New Bedford- Joseph O. Silva, age 83 years, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Louise (Cambra) Silva of New Bedford. Mr. Silva was the father of Mark J. Silva of New Bedford. He was the brother of the late Charles Silva Jr. and Hilda Ferreira. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Silva was a son of the late Philomena (Caton) and Charles Silva Sr. He was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of his life. He was employed as a Sexton at St. John the Baptist Church. Mr. Silva was a Marian Medal Recipient from the Fall River Diocese.
Mr.Silva’s Funeral will be Saturday at 8 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
