Obituary

George I. Segal of Florida and formerly of Everett, MA died on August 20th. He was 85 years old.

George was born in Chelsea, MA and attended the Everett Schools, graduating from Everett High School Class of 1941. He was the retired owner of Parker Sales Company, Inc. in Dorchester, MA. George was a World War II Army Veteran and recieved the Good Conduct Medal as well as the Victory Medal. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. George saw action in the following battles: Rome Arno, North Appennines, and Po valley. George was a proud member of the Jewish War Veterans. He was very active in the community as a life member of Hadassah, a life member of the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale, MA, and a member of Congregation Tifereth Israel of Everett, MA.

George was the beloved husband of Annette (Goodman). He was the devoted father of Sheryl Ruth Segal and her husband Seth Emmer of Bedford, and David H. Segal and his wife Wendy of Needham. He was the dear brother of Leonard Segal of Canton, MA and the loving grandfather of Jacob Leo Segal.

Funeral services at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., (Cary Sq.) Chelsea, on Friday, August 22nd at 11:00 AM. Interment in Everett. Immediately following the interment, the family will be receiving visitors at Cong. Tifereth Israel of Everett, 34 Malden Street, Everett, MA 02149. Memorial observance at the home of Sheryl Ruth Segal and Seth Emmer in Bedford Saturday evening from 7:30 – 9:00 PM and Sunday and Monday from 1:00 – 7:00 PM. Donations in George’s memory may be made to Congregation Tifereth Israel of Everett.
