Mrs. Elizabeth Mae (Hunter) Dristiliaris, 87, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 7th, at Lawnwood Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Florida. She was the wife of the late William G. Dristiliaris, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Betty was born in Cordele, Georgia on October 11, 1920, a daughter of the late Arthur and Gwen Hunter. She spent her early years in Florida, and graduated from Oveida High School in Oveida, FL.
She met and married her husband while working in Miami, Florida and moved with him to his hometown of Lowell in 1952 where they raised their five children. She was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Philoptochos Society of Lowell, and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Pierce, FL.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur N. of Providence, R.I., James W. of Fort Pierce, FL; three daughters, and two sons -in-law, Catherine A. and Richard Roy of Lowell, Mary E. and Larry Singelais Jr. of Bow, NH, Georgia Dristiliaris of Tewksbury; four grandchildren, Dina (Veillette) Layne and her husband, Andrew, Robert Veillette, all of North Port, FL, Natalie Singelais of Boston, MA, and Kimberly Singelais of Bow, NH; three great-grandchildren, Devin Gouveia, Brody and Trevor Layne, all of North Port, FL; a brother-in-law, George Kostoulakos of Dracut; a sister-in-law, Kay Dristiliaris of Lowell; as well as many nieces and nephews. Also many dear friends at Seapointe Towers in Fort Pierce, FL. She was the sister of the late William Hunter, Martha Todd, and Minnie Lou Roberts, all of Florida. Also the sister of the late Arthur R. Hunter Jr. who died on the USS Indianapolis in 1945.
Per her wishes, a private funeral was held from M.R. LAURIN AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Thursday, August 14th. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, Fr. Sarantos Way Lowell, MA 01854.
