Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Norine A. (Maxwell) Hiland, 84, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Hiland who died in January 1998.
Born in Salem on February 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nora (Donahue) Maxwell. A graduate of Salem High School, Norine had resided in Salem for many years before moving to Gloucester over sixty years ago.
Norine had once worked at Parker Bros. in Salem and the former Oceanside Fisheries in Gloucester for several years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. An animal lover, she enjoyed her many cats over the years.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara E. Rowe and Jean F. Jaksland both of Gloucester, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two adoring great-great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son James E. Hiland and three brothers.
At her request, there will be no funeral services. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
