Salem: Eleanor B. (Deschene) Raynes, age 82 of Salem, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital. She was the wife of the late John H. Raynes.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Susan (Thompson) Deschene. She at one time worked for Salem Five Bank and at a later time in medical records for the Salem Hospital.
Eleanor married John, the love of her life in 1955. She was devoted to her husband, her son, grandchildren and her extended family. There was always room at the table for family and friends. It was always open house at the Raynes’. Eleanor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, John A. Raynes, Sr. and his wife Shelly of Salem, 3 grandchildren: John A. Raynes, Jr., Ashley H. Raynes and Hannah G. Raynes., a brother, William Deschene of California, 3 sisters: Dorothy Munroe of Florida, Doris Pasquale of Danvers and Ruth Castonguay of Peabody. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by a brother, Edward Deschene and 2 sisters: Rita Deschene and Marion Ralph.
