Milton G. Saunders, 86, of Mattapoisett died August 17, 2008 at the Royal of Fairhaven after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Lillian L. (Briggs) Saunders.
Born in Rochester, the son of the late Raphael and Marianne (Bisaillon) Saunders, he lived in Mattapoisett all of his life.
Mr. Saunders was a home builder and boat builder for many years. He also headed the saw at the Big 3 Saw Mill.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Saunders enjoyed fishing, woodworking, boating and the local waterfront.
Survivors include a son, Michael Saunders of Mattapoisett; 3 daughters, Donna Peters and her husband Bob of Carver, Deborah Baldwin and her husband Harry of Acushnet and Brenda Mae Moniz of New Bedford; 10 grandchildren, Mark, Robyn, Chad, Chris, Misty, Becky, Michael, Steve, Kim and Jodi; 10 great-grandchildren; his companion Lucille, his best friend Snoopy and his newly extended family at the Royal; many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Herbert Saunders, Stephen Saunders and Elliott Saunders.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 21st at 9:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, August 20th from 4-8 PM.
