Obituary

WORCESTER-Catherine M. (McCann) Driscoll, 88, of 13 Vassar Street, died Thursday, March 27th in the Jewish Healthcare Center. Her husband Worcester Police Deputy Chief Cornelius S. Driscoll died in 1971. She leaves 4 sons, C. Stephen Driscoll of Worcester, John J. Driscoll of Sutton, Mark F. Driscoll of Clinton and James E. Driscoll with whom she lived, a daughter, Kathleen M. Larson, and a sister Bernardine J. McQueeny both of Worcester, and 4 grandchildren. A daughter Virginia M. Driscoll of Leicester died in 1993 and a sister Elizabeth A. McCann of Worcester died in 1983.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of John H. and Ellen V. (Connolly) McCann. Mrs. Driscoll was a member of the first graduating class from the former Blessed Sacrament School, and was a graduate of Commerce High School and Worcester State College. She retired as a teacher from the Worcester School Department in 1977, where she had worked for over 20 years. Mrs. Driscoll last taught at Midland Street School and previously at the former Lee Street and Dartmouth Street schools. She had also taught in Auburn at the Stoneville School, and in Templeton. Mrs. Driscoll had been a life long member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of it’s former Women’s Guild, and the Southern Worcester County Retired Teachers Association.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 29th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, March 28th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either Blessed Sacrament Church Renovation Fund, 551 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602 or the Jewish Healthcare Center, Inc., 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
