WOOD, JR. DAVID L.
David L. Wood, Jr., 73, of Summerville, husband of Rachel P. Wood, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service for Mr. Wood on Sunday at 6 o’clock at Salem Baptist Church with a visitation at the church from 5 o’clock until hour of service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Mr. Wood was born May 5, 1935 in Pelzer, SC son of the late David L. Wood, Sr. and Nina Belle Davis Wood. Mr. Wood retired from the Navy after twenty years of service as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. He also retired from the Naval Weapons Station and worked at Accu Tech as a Warehouse Manager. He was Deacon and Sunday School Director at Salem Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 321 Old Summerville Road, Summerville, SC 29483.

Survivors, including his wife, are one daughter; Mary Ann Baybo (Lee) of Hanahan, one stepdaughter; Penny E. Higgins (John) of Clayton, NC, two grandchildren; Angela Laflin of Summerville and Andrew Baybo of SanDiego, CA; step grand child; Taylor Raine Higgins of Clayton, NC and great grand child; Autumn Grace Laflin of Summerville.
