Ronnie “Shag” Luke, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, August 17 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Roy Conner officiating. Interment will follow in Luke Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Luke was born, August 12, 1941 in Fitzgerald to the late H.C. “Sharpe” Luke and the late Geraldine Blocker Luke. He lived in the community most of his life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1959 and he was a 1965 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. Mr. Luke was a Pharmacist for Wal-Mart in Douglas, was former owner/operator of Turk’s Pharmacy and Colony Drugs. He worked as a relief Pharmacist all over the State of Georgia and started with Pete Glenn Pharmacy in Anderson, SC. Mr. Luke was a member of Abba Baptist Church. He had a passion for car racing and dragsters.
He is survived by a son, Clint Luke of Chauncey; brother, Bill (Beverly) Luke of Fitzgerald; companion, Jessica Joiner of Fitzgerald; stepsons, John Joiner and Dewayne (Michelle) Cameron, all of Ocilla; grandsons, Andrew & Tyler Cameron of Ocilla. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
