William H. Sheehan, 85 of Foxboro and formerly of Walpole died August 13 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Disnard) Sheehan.
Born in Walpole, September 1, 1922, the son of the late William and Agnes (Duquette) Sheehan, Mr. Sheehan was raised and had lived in Walpole until moving to South Yarmouth in 1972 where he lived until moving to Foxboro 2 years ago.
Mr. Sheehan also had lived for a while in Hawaii.
Mr. Sheehan had worked for the Town of Walpole DPW in the Building Maintenance Department for over 15 years until he retired due to an on the job accident.
He had previously worked for the former Schaeffer Paper Company in Walpole and the L. Harley Bowden Painting Contractors of Walpole.
Mr. Sheehan served in the Army during World War II attaining the rank of Technician 5th grade.
He was a life member of the Walpole VFW and a member of the Foxboro VFW Post 2626.
He was former Commander of the Walpole Post and Past Commander of the Norfolk County Area VFW and former State Quartermaster of the VFW.
Mr. Sheehan’s family was his joy and passion.
In addition to his wife, he survived by his children, Linda Auld of Foxboro, Mary Castles of Plover, Wisconsin, William Sheehan of Foxboro and Gerard Sheehan of Northwood, NH.
He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Sheehan of Falmouth and 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Francis, Thomas and Edward Sheehan and Agnes Gilbert.
His funeral will be held on Monday August 18 from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 p.m.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m.
