Dennis F. Simas, husband of Ann (Almeida) Simas, died on Aug. 12th at his home, surrouded by his family, following a year long battle with cancer. He was 78.
Born in Taunton, he was a son of the late Arsenio and Maria D. (Furtado) Simas.
Educated in Taunton schools, he graduated from Taunton High School in 1948 and later worked for Taunton State Hospital as a maintenance man for over 40 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Taunton.
A very loving man, his family meant everything to him.
Besides his wife, he leaves 3 daughters, Sharon S. Measer, her husband Stephen, and their children Rachael and Danny of Westford, Susan M. Greco, her partner Brian Holmes, and her children Kristen and Jessica of Taunton, and Sandra J. Hewett, her husband Jim, and their son Oliver of W. Hartford, CT; 2 brothers, Jerry F. Simas of Buzzards Bay and Gilbert F. Simas of Norton; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Saturday, Aug. 16th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church, Taunton at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
