Obituary

Biagio “Biff” Maffioli, of Medford, long-time proprietor of the Malden Locksmith Shop, died Tuesday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 85.

Mr. Maffioli was born and raised in Watertown, the son of the late Enrico and the late Adele (Tamburini) Maffioli. Biff served in the Pacific with the Navy during World War II. After the war he rejoined his uncle in the operation of their Locksmith business in Malden. He was a well known figure in town. Known as a jack-of-all-trades, Biff would often be called upon to sharpen ice- skates and lawnmower blades. When Malden Station was to be built, he moved his office to Medford and remained in business there until his retirement after 50 years of service. A Medford resident for over 50 years, Biff was a member of Malden’s Post 639, VFW.


He was the beloved husband of Virginia M. (Bertelli). He was the devoted father of Sandra Dall, Elena Hazard and her husband Mark all of Medford, Susan Maffioli of Reno, NV, Charles Maffioli of Milford. He was a loving grandfather of 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was a dear brother of Matilda Egizio of Watertown and the late Angelo and John Maffioli.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 3 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
