
OXFORD - Richard J. Serwa, Sr., 66, of 35 Dana Road, died Monday, August 11, in University of Mass. Health Care, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Barbara A. (Kokocinski) Serwa; 4 children, Edward Serwa and Michelle Sheehan, both of Dudley, Richard J. Serwa, Jr., of Shrewsbury and James P. Serwa of Auburn; 2 grandchildren, Bryan Serwa and Nicholas Sheehan; aunts, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a daughter Ann in 1968 and by his sister Dorothy Stefanik.
He was born and raised in Webster, the son of Edmund J. and Helen S. (Krystyniak) Serwa. He lived in Dudley for 10 years before moving to Oxford in 1977. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1959.
Mr. Serwa was a sheet metal fabricator and welder all his life for several companies. He was employed at Access Corporation, formerly Tompkins, in Whitinsville at the time of his death.
He was a member of St. Roch’s Church. For many years, he bowled in leagues at the Mohegan Bowl-A-Drome in Webster.
The funeral will be held Saturday, August 16, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Fuenral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Roch’s Church, 334 Main St. Burial will be private. A calling period will be from 8:45 to 10:15 AM Saturday, August 16, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to either the American Heart Association, Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to St. Roch’s Church, 334 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
