Obituary

Mary Slagan, 53, of Dickson City died Sunday at Moses Taylor Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her companion of more than 35 years is Joseph Marsala Sr.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James and Marie O'Boyle Walsh, she attended South Side Junior High School and was employed at White House Hoagies, Blakely. A kind and loving person, she always thought of others before herself. She often attended yard sales with her friends and family.

Her family thanks all her caregivers and those who provided support thought this difficult time. The family also extends a special thanks to Al.

Also surviving are two sons, Rick Marsala, at home; and Joseph Marsala and fiancée, Michele Shafer, Scranton; two sisters; Ann Marie Jones, Texas; and Jeanette Walsh, Olyphant; and a brother, James Walsh, Florida.

Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Olyphant, by the Rev. Thomas Muldowney. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Arrangements, Michael P.
