Obituary

Kathy Lynn Baker, 45, of Summerville died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Summerville Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held for Kathy on Thursday at 11 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 until 8 o’clock and also one hour before the service.
Kathy will then be transferred to Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill, SC where there will be a funeral service at 2 o’clock Friday, August 15, 2008 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, 620 Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC.

Kathy Lynn was born March 26, 1963 in Sylacauga, Alabama and moved to Rock Hill, SC in 1968. Her parents are Linda H. Sumner and Harry B. Baker. Kathy went to live at the Coastal Center in Summerville in 1975. She was an active member in activities, Special Olympics and participated in bowling. She loved her church at the Coastal Center. She was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church in Aiken, SC. Her hobbies were looking at magazines and catalogues and especially hanging out with her friends listening to music, playing games and watching tv.
Kathy Lynn is predeceased by her grandparents, Ed and Sara Baker and Basil and Jewell Huffman.
Surviving Kathy are her mother and step father, Linda and Don Sumner of Aiken, her father and step mother, Harry and Doris Baker of Rock Hill, her brothers, Dan (Joyce) Baker of York, SC and Eric (Polly) Baker of Rock Hill and her precious niece, Sara Reid Baker. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, cousins, and her beloved Coastal Center family.
Kathy’s family would like to express their heartfelt eternal appreciation to the Coastal Center of Summerville, SC. The care, education, training and the deep family love Kathy has received these years have endeared you to her entire family. The staff and caregivers have gone beyond duty to accommodate her every need. As a mother, I have entrusted her care to the staff and they have ministered to my needs as well many many times. We truly love and appreciate you all.
