John L. Harvey 62 years of Brockton died Sunday August 10, 2008 at Signature Healthcare-Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Brockton the son of the late Raymond W. Harvey, Sr. and Amanda Mae (Ireland) Harvey and he remained a lifelong resident of the city.
John was a self employed carpenter by trade. He was an avid golfer and an enthusiastic member of D.W. Field Golf Course. John was a dedicated and grateful member of Alcoholic Anonymous. He was very proud of his 23 years of sobriety. He drew strength from the spirituality that he learned in AA.
John was the devoted companion of Mary Ann Quigley of Brockton and father of Marie Jaramillo of Bridgewater; Cathy Salamone of Brockton; Patricia Harvey of Maine; Janet Harvey-LaChance of Brockton and Denise Harvey-Vinskus of W. Bridgewater. He was the brother of Raymond W. Harvey, Jr. of VT; James R. Harvey of Stoughton and Louise M. Maile of Brockton .He also leaves 12 grandchildren, a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 5 to 8 pm with a prayer service at 7:30pm.
