James E. Barber, 85, of Manchester Circle, Coventry, died Saturday at his home. He was the companion of Constance Lawson of Coventry. He was the husband of the late Prudence O. (Woods) Barber.
Born in St Albans, VT, he was a son of the late Fred and Margaret (Weeks) Barber. He was a WWII amd Korean War Army Veteran.
Mr. Barber was a Truck Driver for Scott Brass before retiring. He was Commissioner with the Board of Directors for the Coventry Housing Authority, a member and past President of the Knotty Oak Village Association.
He was a New York Yankee fan and enjoyed playing a round of golf.
He is survived by his daughters, Denise Easterbrooks of Coventry and Tammy Sherlock of Warwick and 6 grandchildren. He was the father of the late Jayne Baier
A Memorial Mass in Christ Episcopal Church, 132 Peckham Lane, Coventry will be held Saturday, August 16 at 9am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jayne Baier Memorial Fund, c/o Coventry Credit Union, 2006 Nooseneck Hill Rd, Coventry, RI 02816. .
