Beloved husband of Mary (Curley) Shidler. Loving father of Gerald & his wife Vickie Shidler of S. Weymouth, Marybeth & her husband Joseph Kilcommons of Quincy, Thomas & his wife Bonnie Shidler, Patrick Shidler and Brendan Shidler, all of Wollaston. Loving "Papa" of Ashley, Matthew, Derek, Marykate, Brendan, Lauren & Ryan. Brother of Lou Shidler of Salem, Joyce Coffman & Karen Bottomly, both of KS. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Mr. Shidler grew up in North Dakota before joining the Navy. During the service he settled in South Boston, where he met his wife Mary. In 1970 Gerald and Mary moved their family to Quincy, where they have lived since. A 20 year employee of Raytheon in Bedford, Mr. Shidler worked as a facilities manager and retired in 2001. After retirement, he worked as a facilities & environmental consultant. He loved golfing and playing cribbage with his friends. He was also a handyman who loved building and renovating for his family. Donations in memory of Mr. Shidler may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
