Benedict R. “Ben” Gigante, 74, passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford Thursday morning December 27, after being stricken at home. He was the husband of the late Nancy J. (Volturno).
Born, raised and educated in Somerville he was the son of the late Maddelena (DiRusso) and Cosmo Gigante. He made his home in Medford for the last fifty-two years. Mr. Gigante was a supply officer working at Hanscom Air Base for over twenty years before his retirement.
He served in the US Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Logan VFW Post of Somerville, the DAV Post of Medford and the Medford Lodge of Elks. Ben also enjoyed playing the drums for the Twilight band in and around greater Boston.

Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford/Somerville with the Rev. Dennis A. Dever officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Friends may visit Sunday from 4 thru 8.at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
