Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Marjorie A. (Curley) Mondello, 81, died Saturday afternoon, August 9, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side. She was the wife of Eugene P. Mondello.
Born in Gloucester on September 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William M. and G. Arline (Brazier) Curley. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the St. Ann High School.
She had worked for the City of Gloucester in the Assessor’s Office for eighteen years and most recently was employed by Senior Care Meals on Wheels, as a supervisor in the Rockport facility, where she has many friends.
Mrs. Mondello was a band parent when her children were members of the St. Ann Band and enjoyed traveling with them and continued her love of parades and band concerts for many years. She enjoyed traveling and her trips to Foxwoods. An avid knitter, she made sweaters for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took pride in all their accomplishments.
An avid Red Sox fan, she almost never missed watching a game. She also enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and took great pride in attending her grandson Joshua’s many baseball and hockey games. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband of sixty-three years, she is survived by her children, Arline F., wife of Gaspar A. LaFata, Eugene P. “Geno” Mondello, Jr., husband of Frances (Puglisi) Mondello, Joanne, wife of Earle Worthley, and William, husband of Carol (Ingham) Mondello. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Matthew LaFata, and his wife, Erika of Frisco, TX, Michele, and her husband, Justin Tocco, Annemarie and her husband, Gerald Tirella, Kristina and her husband, John Lopes, Jenn Worthley, Janine Worthley, Jeffrey Worthley, Father Jason Worthley and Joshua Beyer, eight great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Connor and Cameron LaFata of Frisco, TX, Bianca Tocco and Matthew Lopes both of Gloucester and Carl, Zachariah and Joshua. Her newest grandson is expected in October. She also leaves her three special sisters, Mary Dzierzanowski of Salem, Kathleen Daffara of Plant City, FL, and Alfreda Collins of Gloucester and her brothers-in-law, Frank P. Mondello, Joseph, and his wife, Ginny Mondello, Leo, and his wife Virginia Mondello and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Lillian Knowlton, Margaret Zuzulo and Patricia Parisien. Marjorie was also recently predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Marjorie P. Mondello and Marjorie E. Mondello.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated by her grandson, Fr. Jason Worthley in the St. Anthony by-the-Sea Chapel on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
