Cornelia T. Sylvester, 84, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 9th surrounded by her family. Born in Winchester, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph P. and Ersilia (Noviello) Sylvester. Cornelia was a graduate of Winchester High School, and furthered her education at Regis College. She subsequently received her Masters in Social Work from Boston University, and was employed as a Social Worker/Guidance Counselor at Waltham High School for over 30 years. During that time, she was also an active volunteer with the Boys’ Town of Italy in Boston. In her spare time, Cornelia enjoyed embroidery crafting and was an avid quilter. Ms. Sylvester was the loving sister of Florence C. and Elsie M. Sylvester of Winchester, Irene DesMeules of VT and the late Constance E., Frank, Frances, Beatrice Sylvester and Phyllis Richards, and the dear Aunt of Peter, Frank, Mark, Ralph, Karen and Lisa. She is further survived by many grand-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Winchester on Wed. Aug. 13 at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are omitted. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers donations in Cornelia’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church Organ Fund, 158 Washington St. Winchester, MA 01890.
