Richard L. Higgins, Jr., 17, a lifelong resident of Norton passed away on Saturday August 9, 2008 at home surrounded by the love of his family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Norwood, MA on December 19, 1990 he was a loving son of Richard L. Higgins, Sr. of Stoughton, Suzanne E. (Baker) Fiske and David B. Fiske of Norton and the late Jennifer Higgins.
He grew up in Norton and had attended Norton schools. Richard was quite mechanically inclined for his age and enjoyed working on cars. He loved animals, playing basketball, amongst other sports, listening to music, playing the guitar and video games.
In addition to his loving parents he was the devoted brother of Daniel D. Fiske of Norton and Arianna Higgins and Curtis Higgins both of Stoughton. He was the cherished grandson of Jean Higgins of Stoughton, John Higgins of Taunton, Stephanie Baker of Plainville, Ronald Baker and his wife Terry of Bar Harbor, Maine and Edward & Mary Fiske of Plainville, also surviving are several dear aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his faithful dog Sophie who stayed by his side during his illness.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday August 12th from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
Services will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 11:00 A. M. on Tuesday at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at a later date at the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
In lieu of flowers Richard’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
