SALEM - Claudia M. (Michalowski) LaPointe, 71, wife of Emile J. LaPointe, of Williamsburg, VA, formerly of Salem, died Thursday evening, August 7, 2008 at the Sentara Williamsburg Hospital, Williamsburg, following a long illness.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Mary (Sowinski) Michalowski.
A resident of Salem for many years, Mrs. LaPointe was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the P.L.A.V., Chapter 55 and the V.F. W., Witch City Chapter 1524, both of Salem. She lived in Somersworth, NH for several years before moving to Williamsburg in 2004.
Besides her husband, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, she is survived by four sons & three daughters-in-law, Richard & Amanda LaPointe of Salem, Alan & Gail LaPointe of Groveland, David & Linda LaPointe of Waltham, Thomas LaPointe of Williamsburg, VA, two daughters & sons-in-law, Mary-Ann & Joseph Grocki of Smithfield, VA, Lauri-Ann & Daniel Brewer, Sr. of Lynn, 9 grandchildren, one brother & sister-in-law, Alfred & Loretta Michalowski of Fremont, NH a sister-in-law, Dorothy Michalowski of Salem and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Richard Michalowski.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. John the Baptist Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Tuesday, from 4 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
