Mr. Francis N. Masse, of Taunton, died Wednesday, August 6 in the Life Care
Center of Raynham following a lengthy illness. He was the former husband of the
late Edith (Knight) Masse. He was born 79 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late
Alfred and Lavina (Lamarche) Masse. He was educated in Taunton and had been a
lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at both the
Taunton State Hospital and the Paul A. Dever State School for several years. He had
previously been employed as a laboratory technician at Texas Instruments, Attleboro
for 25 years. Mr. Masse served in the Merchant Marine during World War II and,
following the war, served in the 772nd Military Police Co. of the National Guard for 22 years. He enjoyed playing cards at the David F. Adams Post 611 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Taunton, making puzzles, singing and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

1 brother: Robert Masse of Calif.
2 sisters: Madeline Phillips of R.I.
Lorraine “Tootsie” Langlois of R.I.

several nieces and nephews
Mr. Masse was also the brother of the late Roger Masse, Raymond Masse, Alfred
Masse, Evelyn Costanza, and Jeannette Silvia.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay
Street on Tuesday, August 12 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in
Holy Family Church, East Taunton, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph
Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on
Monday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
