Obituary

COOPER, Dennis- 59, of Chelsea, died August 7th, 2008. Surrounded by his family, Dennis lost his courageous and valiant ten-year battle against cancer. Beloved husband of Patricia (Conlon) Cooper, precious son of Helen Levy of Lynn, Dennis is also survived by his brothers Alan of Salem and George of Lynn, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alice and Joe Conlon of Chelsea, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Andy Leverone, J Conlon and Nancy Azar, Kathy and John Ruggieri, Joe and Tracy Conlon, Bill and Chrissy Conlon, Sheila Cooper and Denise Levy. Dennis was the cherished uncle of Joshua Richard, Ali and Jillian Conlon, Brian and Jack Conlon, Lauren and Joelle Cooper and Nicholas Levy. He was predeceased by his brother John Levy. Dennis also leaves many friends who supported him throughout his illness.
Dennis was a life-long resident of Chelsea and was well-known to residents of the city as the Children's Librarian at the Chelsea Public Library where he was employed for 30 years. Dennis inspired a love of reading in a generation of children and took great pride in their scholastic success.
Dennis was a talented artist and was employed by A.C. Moore and Michael's as a floral designer and floral arrangement instructor. His seasonal and holiday displays were highly sought after.
Through his work and his creative pursuits, Dennis touched the lives of many people who will miss his gentle spirit and unfailing good nature.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Monday morning, August 11th at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Michael the Archangel Chapel on the Campus of the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Avenue, Chelsea at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
