Obituary

Frank A. Lopes, 90, of New Bedford died August 6, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Juanita M. (Santos) Haynes-Lopes and the late Lucadia (Tavares) Lopes.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Antonio and Maria Gloria Lopes, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Lopes was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
He was formerly employed as an electrician at CommElectric for 35 years until retirement and also was a realtor with Century 21. Mr. Lopes appeared in many commercials with the Del Corral Modeling Agency.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Donald "Nonnie" Lopes, and his wife Esther, of New Bedford and Douglas Lopes of Falmouth; 3 step-daughters, Carol Haynes of New Orleans, Patricia Haynes of Providence and Dawn Haynes of Los Angeles, CA a daughter-in-law, Lindy Lopes of New Bedford; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late James "Jayme" Lopes, Stephen Lopes and Anthony "Bumpy" Lopes and the brother of the late James Lopes.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 16th at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
