John Peter LaBaire, 54, of Waite Street, died Wednesday, Aug. 6 in The Meadows of Leicester after a long illness.
He leaves his father Arthur H. LaBaire of Cherry Valley, two sisters Susan Dutra of Westport and Rosemary Cavanagh and her husband Bill of Cherry Valley and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Arthur LaBaire, Jr. and Buddy, his black lab and best friend.
John was born in Worcester son of the late Julia (Budra) LaBaire. He lived his entire life in Leicester. He graduated from Saint Peter's High School in Worcester. He was an auto mechanic and owned and operated John LaBaire Auto Repair in Leicester Center for many years.
John's greatest pride was his twenty-five years as a Leicester Fire Fighter. He served as a Lieutenant for ten years, as a member of Company 2 in Cherry Valley for the full twenty-five years, and was a founding member of the Leicester Brotherhood of Fire Fighters. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, grand-uncle, "Boss", neighbor and friend to many generations of residents of Leicester. He will be sorely missed.
The funeral will be held Friday, Aug. 8 from MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM.
